The last week of school, Andrew's baseball team played for the local championship. They won on a wild combination of events in the last inning. Their picture was in the paper....tough to see, but he is second from the left in the standing row.
Shortly after school let out, Andrew began attending basketball camps....over father's day weekend we attended Father Son Camp at Shippensburg U again. It was a good time...though I was really sore afterwards.
We headed to Williamsburg directly from there for our annual vacation to Williamsburg. We enjoyed Virginia Beach, Water Country and Busch Gardens in addition to Williamsburg itself.
The weekend we returned, Madi, Andrew and I ran the Spirit of Gettysburg 5K. Madi has been running and finished well....3rd in her age group. Andrew and I ran together...despite not training specifically for the run and not feeling well with congestion...he ran steady the whole way and did well for his first one.
Madi played spring field hockey for a club team again. We attended an all day tournament in Columbia, MD where the team placed second - their picture was in the paper. Also, tough to see, but she is on the far left #9.
We attended Word of Life in the Adirondacks as a family over July 4th. Madi spent the week on the "Island" with her cousins and had a good time. Andrew attended the "Ranch" as a day camper. His favorite part was playing paintball. We went to visit Madi on the Island and had to take a boat to get there...it was an adventure for Abby...
It was a good summer where the kids played well together...here is Andrew and Abby in a tire swing at the park.
This summer the weather provided many pool days. Andrew liked to swim and play kickball, Madi swam and took in the sun, but, Abby loved it....she worked to be able to jump in and go underwater (as seen below) and even made it down the slide.
In late July, Andrew turned 12. He got some toys to build, a new pitchback and other 12 year old toys. He had a gathering with family and with a few friends.
As part of his birthday present, we redid his bedroom. He had a cool Star Wars room that he outgrew. We went with a sports themed room...this mural is the signature piece....
I did have the opportunity to coach Andrew in a summer basketball league this summer. He played well and it was a blast coaching a talented group of boys.
Both kids are entering new schools. Madi is entering 9th grade and the high school. In addition to school, she will be playing field hockey for the first time at the high school level as well. Looking forward to pre season camp and then the season.
Andrew is entering 6th grade and the middle school. In addition to school, he will be playing fall baseball again.
Abby will be at the same preschool at our church again this year....
I'm sure you all have similar adventures awaiting you this fall as well.....until next time....
