Spring 2021

We had a busy and eventful end of Winter and Spring.

Madi has had a great experience in Santa Barbara, CA with her internship.  She has been published every day and is a valuable part of the paper.  The National Journalism Institute extended her internship at the paper's request.  She will be there through summer and hopefully be offered a position.

Articles can be found here: Santa Barbara Press

She has had many great experiences and in enjoying it there.....here are some pics.

We did have some snow with winter.  Abby got to enjoy some of it.

We did do sledding on the hill one snow day.

We were able to get out skiing again this year.  Abby did great.  We stayed until close and ate pizza dinner at 9 pm.

Abby finished up her winter swim season.  She got stronger.  She did have a simulated meet at the end.

We held Easter at Jeremy's house.  Madi and Andrew were missing....a little different.  We were able to maintain an Easter egg hunt for Abby.

Rebekah went to FL with some friends.  Abby and I chauffeured, and then had a special breakfast on way home.  It was fun.

Abby had to dress like a decade before....good thing she has a sister 10 years older with stuff in her closet.  Ha!

Andrew made it to "Breakout"in early Feb.   Twitter was my only way to get pictures...

Andrew was selected at random to eat dinner with the Commandant.  Captured on Twitter.

Andrew worked through his semester in a more normal fashion after breakout.  Still an adjustment, as a freshman student, but managed well.  He was able to come home for 24 hours in late March.  I made it down to see a parade - a VMI Tradition.  Glad I got to see it.

Here is a link:  VMI Parade

Andrew got the opportunity to run at Colonial Relays at William and Mary over Easter Weekend.  The weather was not ideal on Friday night for his 5k, but he preformed well.  It was a cool experience to compete as a college athlete and travel to a multiple day event.

A parent peering through the fence, captured some videos:   Andrew at Colonial Relays 1st Lap

VMI had their football season in the Spring.  They had a good year.  Won the league, qualified for the championships, by beating the Citadel.  Andrew was able to attend - a delayed normal experience, but glad he had a chance to see it.

We did get to go down to VMI / Washington and Lee and see him run his last regular season races.  The weather could have been better......but, it was good to see him run for first time in 15 months.

He was offered the opportunity to run the steeplechase at the SOCON Conference meet at Western Carolina University.  It was an honor and a good learning experience....says he may run it again next year....

Andrew finished out his semester well.  Came home mid May.

Madi flew home from CA to graduate in May.  We attended with the grandparents.  It turned out to be a good trip and a nice day.

We all ended up being home for one day.  We took at walk at the Eisenhower Farm and celebrated Madi's birthday with Tommy's Pizza and a DQ ice cream cake.

Madi headed back to CA.  Hoping to secure permanent employment and figure things out.  We are going to CA to see her as a family this summer!!  Should be a great trip.

Andrew will head to the beach with his VMI BR's.  Then he will work at either Walmart or an Amazon Distribution center in Shippensburg, along with running to get ready for another cross country season.

Abby will continue to swim and do 11 year old things.  She will have some meets this summer, so that will be nice.

Hope you are well......until next time....
