Summer 2021

A really busy and eventful summer for our family.

Andrew returned home from a successful second semester of his freshman year at VMI.  He went to the beach with his runner friends from VMI and then worked full time at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Shippensburg.  He also ran alot of miles to maintain his cross country training.  Here is a pic from his beach trip.

Abby finished 5th grade well and graduated to middle school.  We took our annual first day opening trip to the cold pool.  She got in like she always does.

We took a trip to Indiana to visit with the Minges'. Clark and Madi flew in from CA.  It was a great weekend to visit with the families on the farm.

Our big family trip was a trip to Santa Barbara area of CA to visit with Madi.  After our trip to Indiana, the trip plans changed a little to include a proposal from Clark on the beach.  We took a long hike the first day to a beach that Clark planned an he proposed.  Clark's parents flew in from Indiana to witness it.  It was a great moment.  Here are some pic of the hike and the proposal.

Madi set up alot of activities for us.  We watched fireworks at the beach in Santa Barbara for July 4.  We took many hikes.  We went to the beach. We went kayaking in the harbor, We went to Solvang, a Danish town near Santa Barbara and most importantly spent time together.  Here are some pics from the trip.

For our last trip of the summer, we went to Myrtle Beach.  It is one of our favorite places.  We spent many days at the beach.

Andrew turned 20 years old while at Myrtle Beach.  We took him to Top Golf in Myrtle Beach.  Abby hit some too....it was fun and we did ok for our first time.

While at Myrtle Beach, we took a day trip to Charleston, SC.  We walked around and had a good day.

August 23rd was a big day.  Abby started 6th grade and Andrew returned to VMI for his 2nd year (He'll be a 3rd in VMI speak)

The last week of August, the remnants of Hurricane Ida hit us bringing alot of rain.  While I minded the basement, Abby went outside....why not?

We are hoping for a more normal fall....hopefully we will get to see Andrew run some races and Abby can have a normal school year.
