Spring 2017

Hello All.

It has been a busy spring.  Madi worked through her last semester of high school and everything that goes with college and graduation and graduated in May!  Andrew had a busy semester with schoolwork and varsity track.  Abby was a good supporter, and busy with her activities and finished 1st grade.

After visits and applications to multiple schools and considering many factors.....Madi has decided to attend Liberty University in the fall and major in Journalism. Her cousin is also attending there in the fall.

Madi marked the end of her musical career at Gettysburg High School.  It was a great experience for her.  Here is her last night at the choral concert.

Madi also performed a solo that she arranged at her last Orchestra Pops concert.  They also have a tradition where they receive a top hat.  She plans on continuing her music at Liberty University.

Madi had a large role in the Baccalaureate service prior to graduation.  She played in the orchestra ensemble, sang in the choral group, and was one of three students to speak during the service.  It was at the historic Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary.

Madi attended her Senior Prom.  She attended with many of her friends since elementary school.

Madi was fortunate to earn some scholarships.  She received a Lions Club scholarship awarded at one of their meetings (shown below, lighting a little tough).  She also earned three other scholarships at the Dollars for Scholars award night.

Here a few pics of Madi from Graduation (Andrew served as an usher).  Proud of all she has accomplished and excited for her next step.

Andrew had a very good freshman track season.  He ran the 1600 and 800 and was a big contributor to a team that won the division.  He competed well and improved throughout the season.  He earned his varsity letter.  He qualified individually for the county meet in the 1600 and 800 and was a member of the 4 x 800 team that won a medal at that meet.  Here are some pics from the season.

Andrew also completed a semester of JROTC.  It was a good experience.  He is attending a leadership camp for a week this summer. Should be challenging and a good experience.  Here is a pic of him in his Class A uniform. (not a great pic....snapped in the morning quick before school....)

After track he began preparing for JCLC - a JROTC Leadership Challenge for 4 days.  Here is a pic of him after one of his training sessions with muddy boots and his rucksack.

Andrew participated in the annual Gettysburg Memorial Day parade.  He was selected to carry the flag.

Abby had a good spring.  We did not have much snow, but we did have one storm that allowed us to play.  Abby made a snow man and also went sledding.

We celebrated Easter at my parents house.  After church, we went to eat and also had the annual Easter egg hunt.  Abby helped make the dessert

Abby did have a trip the emergency room due to a recess collision.  She had some stitches in her bottom lip....she was a trooper and recovered quickly.

My base had a family day.  Madi and Abby attended with me (Andrew and Rebekah were not feeling well.)  Abby got her face painted, tried the rock wall, and tried out my office.

Rebekah has had a trying start to 2017.  She had two major surgeries and has been working hard to recover and still run her business.  Despite her surgeries, she did earn her 7th pink Cadillac.  Always and blessing and we look forward to picking it up this summer.

We have a vacations planned to Williamsburg and NYC this summer.

This summer, Madi will be traveling to France for 10 days with her orchestra group.  She will then work and get ready for college.  Andrew will attend the JCLC camp and then run and play basketball to prepare for next year's sports seasons.  Andrew also plans on getting his drivers permit this summer!!  Abby in planning on spending time at the pool and maybe some gymnastics.  Should be good....

Hope you had a good spring and have a good summer....
