December 2013

Hello All.  Well, December began with a snow storm during the second week.  After my reserve weekend, we went sledding for an hour on the back hill.

Here is  a short video of Abby sledding...

There was enough snow the next day for Madi and Abby to build a snowman....

Both Madi and Andrew both had their Christmas music concerts.  Madi plays in the high school orchestra and plays violin.  Andrew plans in the middle school band and plays the trumpet.  Andrew had a speaking role introducing a song this year....he was anxious about it, but did a great job.

Madi has also been playing in a winter indoor field hockey league with the high school team.  Andrew is playing basketball in a 6th grade league.  I am coaching his team again this year. That keeps us busy during the week and on weekends.

Here is Andrew before a basketball practice...

Abby is in pre school at our church three days a week.  As part of her Christmas program, they dressed her as an angel with a baby Jesus....cute.

Madi played a role in the Christmas Eve service at our church.  She acted and sang and did a great job.

We had a great Christmas with family.  Here are some pictures from our Christmas.

The day after Christmas, the family traveled to the Pentagon for a self guided tour.  We were able to visit with Army War College seminar mate COL George Smawley and folks within the Joint Staff Engineer Division, namely long time acquaintance Mr Bill Mackie.  So, a great trip for all.

Abby and Andrew got hats at the Pentagon.  Here they are on the Metro....

Madi, myself and my nieces did go to Gettysburg's New Years celebration on the square...it was fun and the fireworks were more than we expected...

We are looking forward to 2014....wishing you the best in the upcoming year....please keep in touch...

Fall 2013

Hello All....a busy but enjoyable fall for the Hirneisen's....

We had a heat wave just as school started, and Abby had fun in the sprinkler...it is funny to watch her...worth the 30 seconds or so....

This Fall, Abby spent a lot of time outside. Abby drove her Gator around the yard...

And, of course, we played at some parks....

Andrew played baseball again....he had a good season.  He had the opportunity to pitch the first two innings of most games.  He did well, gained more confidence, and showed more improvement.  Here are some pitching pics....

Madi played high school field hockey. The team had a good season.  Madi had the opportunity to be on the varsity roster and accompany the varsity team to the district playoffs.

Andrew and Madi had the same number this fall :)  Some pics....

Here is a pic with cousin Lauren before a cross country meet at Gettysburg ...

Abby spent a lot of time at baseball games and field hockey games...here are some pics of Andrew and Abby entertaining themselves at a field hockey game.

Rebekah had a chance to go with Abby's preschool class to an orchard where they explored and got to pic apples.  Here is a picture of Abby picking apples.

It was Madi's freshman homecoming dance.  Here is a picture of her in her dress with her date.

We ended the month with Halloween....Madi as a Zombie....she volunteered at a haunted house.

This winter, Madi will play indoor field hockey with the school team and I will again have the opportunity to coach Andrew's 6th grade basketball team...good stuff to keep us busy....

Until next time...
